Our Instructors

Barbara T. Dwyer CPDT, CTC, CAP2
Barbara Dwyer has been training dogs since the 1990’s and she is committed to positive training methods that build and deepen the bonds between humans and our dogs. Her company is See Spot Stay and she is a part of the Tri-valley Animal Rescue, trains for the City of Concord and has trained at the Mt. Diablo Dog Training Club. She is a member of APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) and is a Certified Behavior Counselor and Trainer. Barbara graduated from the San Francisco SPCA Academy and her certifications include CPDT and CPAT, Etologisk Institut, Denmark. She is also certified with distinctions for clicker training CAP2, canine first aid, and is an AKC CGC Evaluator. An intern at the Oakland Zoo, she has titled her own Dalmations and Brittanys and also trains her Quarter horse and Pacific Parrotlet. Animal behavior, training and rehabilitation, learning theory, ethology and sheltering are her interests.

Joan Constantine
Joan has been an active member of VDTC since 1985 and is our Rally Instructor. Joan has been involved with Rally since it’s inception and has titled her English Setters in both Rally and Obedience. In 2007 Joan’s Copper became the very first English Setter to earn the highest Rally title- RAE – Rally Advanced Excellent. She and her husband Chuck are deeply involved in our club, they have certified their dogs as pet assisted therapy dogs and are also active members of Bay Area English Setter breed clubs.
